About this site
One Day Safari answers a single question: which safari can you do from this city in one day, and what do you really get for it? The starting points are cities and beaches where many travellers already are: Cape Town, Zanzibar, Nairobi, Victoria Falls, Johannesburg, Durban, Mombasa, Port Elizabeth.
What is here and what is not
This site covers day tours and reserves you can reach in the morning and return from by evening. Multi-day safaris to the Serengeti, the Masai Mara or the Okavango are not here; specialist operators do those far better. Where a day trip reaches its limits, such as the Kruger National Park from Johannesburg, the page says so plainly.
How the pages are made
Every figure on this website has a source, and the sources are listed at the end of each page. Park authorities and the reserves themselves come first, then government bodies such as the German Federal Foreign Office and the tourism boards. What cannot be sourced is not on this site. Fees and prices carry a date because they change, most recently and markedly in Kenya and Tanzania.
Every destination has a section called “What the web gets wrong”. Travel blogs copy from each other, which is how outdated park fees, flattering drive times and Big Five promises for parks without lions survive for years. Wherever I find something like that, the correction stands next to it with a source.
How the site is funded
Booking buttons lead to GetYourGuide or Viator. These are affiliate links: if you book through them, I earn a commission and the price stays the same. Only tours with genuine reviews are shown, sorted by number of reviews. Where the park itself is cheaper, for instance for self-drivers in Addo or Pilanesberg, the page says so, with a link to the official site. There are no cookies, no tracking and no third-party scripts.
Who is behind it
One Day Safari is a project by Kai Rauch from Berlin, who also runs Unterwelt-Atlas, Spreefahrten Berlin and Hamburg-Rundfahrten. Found a mistake? A short message to the address in the legal notice is all it takes. Information as of 23 September 2026.
